Kick Starting the Trent Severn
Hi ,
Welcome to Scho & Jo’s 78th Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written aboard PIVOT who is in Campbellford, Ontario along the Trent Severn Waterway.
Last Week.
We began our week going on a food tour and ate our way around Kingston, Ontario. We had a great time eating so much delicious food and checking one of the ‘Canadian foods’ off our list: poutine! We also used our time in a big city to get a lot of work done at coffee shops using their wifi.
Once we left Kingston we had our first long cruising day in a while to Trenton, which is the start of the Trent Severn Waterway. We were so excited to travel on this waterway that is known for some really cool locks, some beautiful scenery, and some really friendly staff at all of the Parks Canada locks. The best word to summarize our experience going through all of the locks so far is fun. We’ve been having such a fun time going into the locks, talking with the lock staff people, and we even helped to move the lock doors that are on a mechanical wheel. We’ve broken up our time on the Trent Severn into shorter cruise days, making our first cruise from lock 1 to lock 6 and our second cruise from lock 6 to lock 12.
After passing lock 12, we arrived in Campbellford where we’ve been waiting out some less than great weather. It was forecasted to have 38 knots of wind, but thankfully the forecasts lowered to 20 knots. Campbellford has been a great little stop. We visited an incredible bakery where we ate too many of their cream-filled glazed donuts. Good thing the bakery is closed on Sunday and Monday because otherwise, we would be there both days!

This Week.
We’re continuing on the Trent Severn Waterway! The Trent Severn has 45 locks and we’ve completed 12 of them, so we still have 3/4 of the way to go before we reach the Georgian Bay. We have zero plans except to keep going and taking in this awesome journey.
Videos.
In case you missed it, here are all the vlogs we’ve released since our last Sunday Summary:
Exploring the small Chesapeake town of Reedville and Testing our Shaft Seal
Celebrating BIG milestones for the PIVOT crew! Cruising from Reedville to Solomons
CROSSING the CHESAPEAKE BAY from Solomons to Oxford (incl. a free pump-out and world-class ICE CREAM)
Great Loop Recommendations.
We are looking for recommendations for destinations and spots along our Great Loop to go see, visit, and enjoy. It's been a real challenge for us to keep track and stay organized with the many wonderful recommendations we've received thus far. So we've created a Google Form to help us stay organized. Thank you to everyone sending us recommendations so far! We really appreciate it.
Gratitudes.
We’re so happy to be going through another lock and canal system. We have had so much fun over the past week going through the locks on the Trent Severn. We’re happy to have had the Erie Canal to have gotten into a rhythm and routine through the locks. It’s been such a great experience!
