Sunday Summary #53 - We Made It!

Sunday Summary #53

Hello Florida Keys!

Hello ,

Welcome to Scho & Jo’s 53rd Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written aboard PIVOT in No Name Harbor which is in Biscayne Key, Florida.

Be sure to read to the end where we ask for your recommendations as we cruise America's Great Loop this year! (LINKS ARE FIXED!)

    Last Week.

After 5 wonderful days in Vero Beach, we were feeling the “velcro effect” (mariners staying put in Vero Beach longer than they originally expect due to the connivence of groceries, the beach, being in a protected anchorage, and really kind people). We continued our journey south with two stops, the first in Jupiter and second in Lake Boca Raton before reaching our first Key, Biscayne Key! Our last travel day included cruising through Miami and it was such a fun and exciting cruise passing dozens of tall buildings and seeing hundreds of huge boats. We have been enjoying the Miami vibes in No Name Harbor full of big yachts playing Reggaeton and the Hispanic culture in this part of Florida. It’s been really fun to watch and be a part of.

    This Week.

After almost 2 months traveling with our buddy boat, Acadia, Gwen and Andy will be leaving us to jump over to the Bahamas and we will return to being solo boaters. We’ve had such a great time cruising south over 1,000 nautical miles with them. We’ve had many shared dinners, game nights, dog walks on land, solving boat challenges together (mainly them helping us), and just overall lots of hanging out. We didn’t know what to expect with our first buddy boat experience, but it has been such a highlight of our time south and something we’ll never forget. Keep an eye out this week for a very fun video we made with Gwen and Andy on our way south 😉

Once Andy and Gwen leave us, we’ll be heading to our next Key and starting our work month. We have a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes of the YouTube videos and a lot of that work has unfortunately gone to the back burner in the past two months. So we’ll be using this time to get caught back up until we restart our Great Loop in late February and go back to daily travel vlogs.

Lastly, this week we’ll be celebrating Elliot’s 30th birthday with some snorkeling, pizza, and beer with Andy and Gwen. It’ll be a fun, laid back day to celebrate Elliot.

     Videos.

Incase you missed it, here are all the vlogs we’ve released since our last Sunday Summary:

Heading back into the Rivers! From Norfolk to our 3rd Lock entering the Dismal Swamp Canal

Cruising through Gorgeous Fall Foliage through Virginia into North Carolina in the Dismal Swamp

During this next month, we will be releasing fewer videos as we catch up on work and prepare to restart our Great Loop. You can expect

    a video every 4 days

until we restart the Loop and resume daily travel vlogs.

     Recommendations.

We are looking for recommendations for destinations and spots along our Great Loop to go see, visit, and enjoy. It's been a real challenge for us to keep track and stay organized with the many wonderful recommendations we've received thus far. So we've created a Google Form to help us stay organized. In last week's email, I made a whoops with the Google Form and and I’m happy to say it’s been resolved (Thanks Steve for letting us know)! So if you tried this last week and couldn’t get it to work, we’d really appreciate you giving it a second try this week 😊

     Gratitudes.

We’re so happy to have made it to our final destination of the Florida Keys! It’s been a really long and challenging journey to this point, but we’ve learned a tremendous amount during this journey south. Nothing worth the effort comes easy and that is definitely true for as we’ve been enjoying the warm weather in the Florida Keys and feel a huge sense of relief since we arrived. We took a walk with our boat buddies when we first arrived to Biscayne Key and I (Jenn) kept saying, “we made it here by boat,” in a bit of disbelief that we did this! A year ago we had just bought PIVOT and had not even splashed yet. One year later, we’re in the Florida Keys and it’s blowing my mind that we traveled here by boat! Our boat! We did this! I’m not sure the awe and wonder will wear off any time soon.

    Peace and love,Jenn + Elliot
