Sunday Summary #42

The Time Has Come... We're Redoing our Decks!

Hello ,

Welcome to Scho & Jo’s 42st Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written from the public library in Crisfield, Maryland.

    Last Week.

It was time to get down to business and re-core our decks. We've settled into Pivot and have almost all our materials, with the exception of the wood which Elliot is picking up tomorrow. It was a challenge and a half to find "half-inch" marine grade plywood, but hopefully tomorrow we'll have gotten the required 4x8 sheets in Annapolis, Maryland. We have cut into a small section and cleared out the rotten wood - it was a process to say the least. Elliot used a circular saw, grinder, and multi-tool for the first time! While we've been working steadfast on editing and boat projects, we took an evening off Saturday to get to know some new friends here in Crisfield. Bill and Pam treated us to a tour of their classical Crisfield home and a drink at a local waterman's bar, which "Not at the end of the world, but you can see if from here". They owned a farm in Australia so we were able to trade stories from our 2 months there in early 2020.

"Never be afraid to try something newbecause life gets boring when you staywithin the limits of what you already know."-Anonymous

    This Week.

We will hopefully finish the first section of our deck core replacement! That will put us at probably 5% of the total deck and we will power through the rest in the next few weeks. Jenn will be heading out to Nashville for a Bachelorette party so Elliot and Ollie will have a father-puppy weekend.

     Gratitudes.

We are immensely grateful for all of the learning we have done in the few short weeks since we've been back at the boat. It can be overwhelming at times when we venture into the unknown, but through each challenge, mistake, and mishap, we learn more and more. It's invigorating to learn these new skills such as wood working, laying fiberglass, working with epoxy, and power tools. We're so grateful for this opportunity!

    Peace and love,Jenn + Elliot
