Sunday Summary #40

Back to Boatlife

Hello ,

Welcome to Scho & Jo’s 40th Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written from PIVŌT in Crisfield, Maryland. Finally!

For those of you who are new to our Sunday Summary, we are about 2 months behind on releasing videos. A lot has happened in the past few months, so here's a quick update on our status around America's Great Loop. Back in May we cruised up the Chesapeake Bay to Smith Island, MD - one of the last inhabited islands in MD. The following day, we were getting off the boat to film and Elliot missed the dock, breaking his wrist. We were helicoptered to the nearest hospital in Salisbury, MD. With the help of Jen's parent's, we moved PIVŌT to Crisfield, MD and drove down to Florida for Elliot to get wrist surgery covered by our health insurance. We were in Florida for 3 months between the surgery, recovery, and physical therapy. Due to weather constraints and being new to boating, we are having to postpone completing America's Great Loop until 2022.

    Last Week.

We finished up our last week in Florida by celebrating Elliot's grandfather's 85th birthday in Viera, Florida. It was a great time spent seeing and catching up with a lot of Elliot's family that we haven't seen in years. During our time in Florida we are happy to report that we edited 51 videos, sent 8 of Sunday Summary's, completed 3 online courses and 2 e-books to help us grow our little business. On a personal note, we got back into an exercise routine and have consistently worked out for the past 8 weeks and have completed a total of 8 of books for pleasure. When we look back on our time in Florida, we are proud of all the work we completed and feel that we got into a good place.

We arrived back to PIVŌT on Wednesday night, just as Topical Storm Ida passed Maryland. We were happy to see her after our 3 months spent in Florida. Our first night back to PIVOT was a bit rough with wind blowing her against the dock. We missed our little home on the water and are glad to be back.

    This Week.

We've taken a few days to settle back into PIVŌT, but now we're getting ready for the hard work ahead of us. Since we are not able to complete the Loop this year, we decided to tackle some of the boat projects we were either putting off (like redoing our leaking and rotting decks) and some of the boat improvements we had originally planned for the week after Elliot broke his wrist (like installing our new anchor and two additional solar panels). We have about 2 months of boat projects ahead of us and are excited for the improved PIVOT at the end of these 2 long months ahead of us.

We are so happy and relieved that PIVŌT is looking good! Having left her 3 months ago in a rush, we did our best to prep her for our extended leave. We're so happy to be back to our little home on the water and to see that she has only minor damages to her. Nothing we can't tackle 😉

    Peace and love,Jenn + Elliot
