Sunday Summary #34

Surgery Complete ✅ Recovery Begins 💪

Welcome to Scho & Jo’s 34th Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written from Jen's parents home in Green Cove Springs, Florida, USA.

Last Week.

Elliot had his surgery on Monday, June 14th and walked out of the operating room 4 hours later. The surgery went well and he has begun his recovery process. The following Friday Elliot attended his first follow-up appointment where the doctor confirmed he was healing well. Due to the extended time between the break and the surgery, the doctor had to change his course of action and put two pins in Elliot's wrist instead of the plate and screws, thus prolonging Elliot's recovery time by about a month. Literally there are now, two aluminum pins sticking 1 in out of his wrist, and it will stay that way until the follow up in 3 weeks...

Due to Elliot's broken wrist and our change of plans, we made a road trip down to Viera, Florida where we were able to celebrate Elliot's grandmother's 80th birthday with her! It has been another blessing in disguise that we had the opportunity to celebrate with her as we were planning to be on the Hudson River by this point. We were able to see a lot of Elliot's family which was wonderful!

This Week.

This week we are continuing to work on Scho & Jo! Elliot finished his last software consulting job right before he broke his wrist and just in time for us to work full time on Scho & Jo together. Starting a business is a lot of hard work, so we're trying to use this time wisely by embracing our access to fast wifi and not being distracted with boat jobs. So we'll be (re)building our website, continuing to edit videos, and learning new skills this week. We listed all of the jobs we're trying to complete while at Jen's parents house and have quite a few sticky notes to move into our "done" column.

We are SO incredibly grateful that Elliot's surgery went well and he is on his path to recovery. With some rest in the next few weeks, we hope that he'll be completely healed and ready to get back on the boat, although we're both mentally ready to be back on the boat. We're also so happy to have had the chance to visit Elliot's grandparents and celebrate Grandma Rose's 80th birthday.
