The End of Lockdown! We leave Jodhpur!
Sunday Summary #23
We left Jodhpur!
Namaste ,
Welcome to An Urban Journey’s 23rd Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written in our NEW hotel at the Jaipur Airport!
After 107 days, we are thrilled to say we left Jodhpur! We spent 70 of those days locked down in our hotel, never leaving once. Now as Unlock 2.0, as it’s called here, comes with some easing of restrictions and opening of tourism, we head to the state of Goa was reopening and after carefully weighing many options, we decided to leave the people who have become family in Jodhpur and experience a new region of India.
How we spent our lockdown.
Throughout the 107 days we spent in a hotel:
We caught up on vlogs! 51 vlogs to be exact and now we’re all caught up on videos! It is such a relief to be all caught up on videos and to be working on new videos of our experiences.
Jen completed a 10 day meditation challenge, a 30 day yoga challenge with her cousin in NYC, and painted some of the local buildings in Jodhpur.
We read books! Jennifer finished The Sixth Extinction, A Practical Guide to Meditation, Big Magic, and The Henna Artist. Elliot read The Dark Tower, Books 7 and 8, Paris 1919, and Contagious: Why things catch on.
Catching up with friends and family. From close family to best friends to people we’ve met along our travels and other full-time travelers we’ve never met in person, zoom calls were pure gold to us! We’re so happy to have so many wonderful people in our lives. We still have a few more people we are excited to catch up with as we bunker down in Goa!
We finished a few Netflix series: Friends, Brooklyn 99, Tiger King, The Last Dance, and season 5 of Queer Eye.
We improved our social media presence. We found a rhythm to producing consistent content on Instagram and Tiktok. Elliot has been killing it on our tik tok game and producing some really cool short videos. Now that tik tok has been banned in India, we’ll see how it continues....
Observing and participating in the local culture including attending a covid-19 Indian wedding (photo below):

Our Travel Plan
As we are beginning to travel again, we are taking it extremely slow and cautiously. International flights are still closed in India so travel is limited to domestic only. Within India, each state has different lockdown rules and restrictions; some states require a 14 day quarantine, others you are simply not allowed to enter. We’ve decided to go to Goa as they have officially opened and require a mandatory COVID test upon entry. We won’t be traveling around as much as we have been pre-covid, but we have booked an AirBnB for 1 month and it will become our new home-base.
