Lockdown Extended in India

Namaste ,

Welcome to An Urban Journey’s 20th Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written in our hotel in the Blue City of India, Jodhpur. As of today, we are officially in our 3rd extended lockdown in India and have been isolated for 6 full weeks. Here’s a little summary of events so far:

March 19 - We arrived in Jodhpur, India on a train from Jaipur, India. March 20 - (Unofficially) No new foreigners accepted into hotels in Jodhpur.March 21 - Day of the Jantar Curfew, no one allowed outside for 14 hoursMarch 25 - First official lockdown begins for two weeks. April 14 - Full Lockdown extended for two weeks. May 3 - India segmented into zones: red zones have a lockdown extended for 2 weeks, orange zones will not have public transportation but private transportation is allowed, and green zones where lockdowns are lifted and public transportation is limited to 50%.

Unfortunately, we are in a red zone (circled in white below) so a full lockdown it is!

We have been staying positive and finding joy in the smaller things we can control. We are making time to read on our kindles; Jen just finished "The Sixth Extinction" by Elizabeth Kolbert and Elliot is halfway through "The Dark Tower" 8 part series by Steven King. Also, we have been steadily catching up on vlogs.

Thank you to everyone reaching out with concerns,we hope everyone stays safe!

Namaste,Jenn + Elliot
