Sunday Summary #15
Leaving Australia
Palya (greetings in Pitjantjatjara, language of the aboriginal Anangu) ,
Welcome to An Urban Journey’s fifteenth Sunday Summary. This edition of the Sunday Summary was written in our Airbnb from Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia.
Since the last Summary.
It has been almost an entire month since our last Sunday Summary. Half of our time was spent working in Melbourne and the second we toured through Australia! Here are a few highlights of our time in Melbourne:
Learning how to sail and attending two Twilight Sails
Walking around Queen Victoria Market
Attending a comedy show
Running a free 5k in Prince Park through ParkRun
Dinner with two urbanists and walking around their neighborhood
During that dinner, we discussed (among many other items) our tentative plan for touring Australia once we left Melbourne. They recommended that we book a few nights in the territory of Tasmania, Australia. Here are a few highlights from our time in Tassie:
Hiking Cradle Mountain where we did our first summit to see the beautiful Cradle Mountain National Park
Hiking Mount Amos where we did our second summit hike to view Wineglass Bay
Seeing a spectacular amount of wildlife such as Tassie Devils, Echidnas, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Possums, Snakes, among others…
After Tassie, we flew back to Melbourne where we drove on the iconic Great Ocean Road. The views were completely breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed taking our time driving from Melbourne to Adelaide. We just finished our time in Australia with a 6 day tour into the Outback. There’s too much to write here, but some of the highlights were:
Sleeping underground in the Opal Capital of the World at Coober Pedy.
Experiencing the Outback. The fly-magedden was awful, but the amazing sunrises, sunsets and sleeping under the Milky-Way by-far made up for it.
Learning about Aboriginal history and current lifestyles was so intriguing, we left inspired to continue learning more about them.
Learning about the unique geology at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
In the past month we released several vlogs, which you can access here if you missed it:
This Week.
This week we are traveling to our 10th country, India! We are very excited to go to Asia, here are some of the fun things we’re looking forward to:
Exploring Indian Culture through the people, food, and places we’ll see
Experiencing a capsule hotel during our layover in the Bangkok airport on our way to India
Meeting friends living in Delhi
While we have made our initial plans for India, if you have any recommendations for India, Sri Lanka, or Thailand, please send them to [email protected]. Are you planning any fun trips abroad this year and want to meet up? Let us know and we’ll schedule you into our 2020 adventures!
We’re incredibly grateful to be on this trip together. A day doesn’t go by when we think to ourselves how lucky we are to be doing this trip. Thank you for following our journey!
Cheers mate,Jenn + Elliot
